Belarim keeps this page up to date so you always know what we do with your details, what we keep on file and what you can ask us to change. Read it once before you send a brief, and ring the shop if anything is unclear.

Last updated: this document is reviewed once a year and whenever our ordering or delivery process changes in a way that affects your information.

Who we are

Belarim is a pastry kitchen based in Adelaide that bakes celebration cakes and pastry platters to order. When you send us a cake brief, book a platter or sign up for our newsletter, you are dealing with us directly and we are the ones responsible for the information you hand over.

You can reach us about anything on this page by email at belarim@hotmail.com or by ringing the shop during opening hours. We answer privacy questions the same way we answer order questions, usually within a couple of working days.

What we collect

We only ask for what we need to make and deliver your order. That is a fairly short list.

  • Your name and a way to contact you, usually a phone number and an email address
  • The delivery or collection address for the order
  • The event date, headcount and any dietary notes you give us
  • Order history, so we know what you had last time and what you paid
  • Payment records, meaning the amount and date, not your full card number
  • Messages you send through the website forms or by email

We do not ask for identity documents, health records or payment card details kept on file. Card payments are processed by our payment provider and we see only the confirmation.

Why we hold it

We keep your details to bake the order you asked for, to get it to the right address at the right time, and to answer you if something goes wrong. Past order records help us repeat a cake exactly and settle any question about what was agreed.

If you have opted in to our newsletter, we use your email for that and nothing else. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and using it removes you from the list straight away rather than at some later batch date.

We do not sell customer lists, and we do not pass your details to anyone for their own marketing.

Who else sees it

Some of the work happens outside our kitchen. Our delivery drivers see the name, address and phone number attached to a run. Our email and accounting providers store the records we keep. Payment processing goes through a card provider that handles the transaction under its own terms.

We will hand over information if a court or a regulator requires it. That has not happened, and if it did we would tell you unless we were legally barred from doing so.

How long we keep it

Order records stay on file for seven years because tax rules require it. Newsletter subscriptions stay until you unsubscribe. Enquiries that never turn into an order are cleared out after twelve months, and we do not sit on old cake briefs for the fun of it.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct something that is wrong, or ask us to delete what we are not legally required to keep. Write to belarim@hotmail.com and say what you want. We will confirm within a month.

If you think we have handled your information badly, tell us first so we can fix it. You also have the right to complain to the privacy regulator in your country, and we will not hold that against you.
