Cookie Policy
Belarim keeps this page up to date so you always know what we do with your details, what we keep on file and what you can ask us to change. Read it once before you send a brief, and ring the shop if anything is unclear.
Last updated: this document is reviewed once a year and whenever our ordering or delivery process changes in a way that affects your information.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website leaves on your device so it can remember something between page loads. Belarim uses a handful of them and none of them do anything clever with your personal life. They keep the site working and tell us which pages people actually read.
We also use something called local storage for the cookie banner choice, so you are not asked the same question on every visit. It sits in your browser like a cookie and you can clear it the same way.
The cookies we set
- A preference cookie that records whether you accepted or declined the banner
- A session cookie that keeps a form from losing what you typed if a page reloads
- An analytics cookie that counts visits and shows which pages get read
- A security cookie that helps our hosting provider filter out automated abuse
We do not run advertising cookies and we do not build a profile of you across other websites. If that ever changes, this page will say so and the banner will ask before anything loads.
How long they last
The preference cookie stays for twelve months. Session cookies disappear when you close the browser tab. Analytics cookies last up to thirteen months before they expire and get replaced. The security cookie resets every few hours.
You can delete all of them at any time and the site will still work. You will simply see the cookie banner again on your next visit.
Third parties
Some parts of the site load content from other companies, such as the embedded map on the contacts page and font files served from a content network. Those providers may set their own cookies under their own policies. We do not control what they store.
If you would rather they did not, block third-party cookies in your browser settings. The map will stop rendering and the fonts may fall back to a system typeface, and that is the trade you are making.
Turning them off
Every browser has a settings screen for cookies, usually under privacy or security. You can set it to block all cookies, block only third-party ones, or ask you each time. On a phone the same controls sit in the browser app settings, not the phone settings.
Blocking our preference cookie means the banner keeps coming back. Blocking analytics means we lose a page count, which we can live with. Nothing on this site stops working in a way that matters to placing an order.
Questions
If you want to know exactly what a cookie on this site is doing, send a note to belarim@hotmail.com and we will explain it in plain words rather than pointing you at a spec sheet.
